Committee Services Officer

Team: Governance Services

Job Family: Providing - CBG10
Salary: £35,992 – £37,536 per annum pro rata

Hours: 18 hours per week

Base Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month

Contract Type: Hybrid – Fixed Term for 1 Year
Closing Date: 27th May 2024
Interview Date: Week commencing 3 June 2024 – face to face at Priory House

 

 

About the role:

Governance Services is looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional to join the team to ensure that the Council’s democratic process runs efficiently, in accordance with the Constitution and promotes the principles of openness and transparency. The responsabilites of the Committee Services Officer will be to support committee meetings, including working groups and to provide support to those in the team that are administering appeals for School Admissions, School Transport and Exclusion Reviews. 

 

Committee experience is essential, you will need to be well organised, have exceptional administrative and communication skills, good IT skills and can work well under pressure to support the governance of the whole Council in a range of activities including:

 

  • Administering committee meetings and supporting the appeals process
  • Creating and publishing agendas and appeal packs
  • Taking minutes and webcasting meetings
  • Supporting Councillors and members of the public to be a part of the Council’s decision-making process including using technology to support virtual attendance
  • Providing advice and guiding Members, parents and officers on governance processes

 

This is an exciting time to join the team as a Committee Services Officer to help drive the service forward. 

 

Central Bedfordshire Council supports flexible working which includes the opportunity to be primarily based at home, although there will be an expectation of attending and supporting Council meetings in person on a regular basis.  It’s worth noting that some of our meetings take place in the evening, if you attend an evening meeting you will be entitled to time off in lieu.
