Principal Highways Engineer - Structural

Hours: 37 hours per week 

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type:  Hybrid - Permanent

About the role:

Are you a skilled and visionary engineer with expertise in road surfacing? We invite you to join our team as a Principal Highways Officer (Structural) at CBC, delivering and project managing road surfacing schemes within our Highways Annual Plan where you will be able to make a real difference to those who live, visit and work in Central Bedfordshire.

 

As an enthusiastic and effective Principal Engineer, you will deliver a wide variety of highways improvements throughout Central Bedfordshire working closely with out PMO team. This role is full of variety and covers the wide area, so you will need a valid driving license and access to a vehicle. Your team will be responsible for a range of schemes to time and budget. Working within the political and business environment of the Council you will develop strong positive relationships with clients, colleagues and our Term Service contractor Milestone.  You will need to think creatively and work collaboratively, seeking opportunities to improve individual and team performance and service delivery in line with the Council’s objectives.

 

CBC are proud to offer an agile and flexible hybrid approach to working, enabling you to strike the right balance for you and the service. You will be based in either Thorn Turn or Sandy Depot, where your presence will be required; a minimum of 1 day per month but will reflect the needs of your team and the business.

You will have experience of delivering high quality schemes and an eye for detail.  With excellent communication skills, you will also demonstrate effective behaviours in the way you work with your colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
