Administration Assistant

Team: Planning Admin

Job Family: CBG5 - Providing

Salary: £25,583 - £25,989 per annum pro rata
Hours:  37 hours per week (part-time considered)

Location: Working from home once fully trained, You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Fixed term contract or secondment for 6 months
Closing Date: 22nd March 2026

Interview Date: Friday 27th March 2026 – this will take place via Microsoft Teams

 

About the role

This is a great opportunity to join Central Bedfordshire Council. We are looking for a confident Administration Assistant who is keen and quick to learn. You will need to be self-motivated, accurate, and have a keen eye for detail to progress tasks without close supervision. You will be working closely with colleagues, so excellent communication skills are vital. You will need a good level of numeracy and literacy, and as all tasks are dealt with electronically, you will need to be IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft products.

 

You will receive full training, but knowledge of using databases, GIS systems and case management systems would be beneficial.

 

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Check and update existing records, using excel spreadsheets, on our databases to ensure compliance.
  • Check and update existing records on our GIS (geographical information mapping system).
  • Check and upload documentation to our case management system (SharePoint) and check that records can be viewed on our public online registers.
  • Support decision making by reading related legislation.
