Civil Enforcement Officer

Team: Parking Enforcement

Job Family: Directing - CBG7 

Salary: £27,771 - £30,060 per annum pro rata (+ additional weekend enhancement up to £3,800 per annum)  

Hours: 37 hours per week. Please note that you’ll work a shift pattern of 4 days on and 4 days off, on a rolling 8-week rota, covering 7am-9:30pm. You will be required to work weekends but will receive additional payment for this.

Location: We work from various locations including, Thorn Turn, Houghton Regis and Sandy and please state your preferred location in your application.

Contract: Fixed - Permanent

Our parking enforcement team delivers a high quality parking enforcement service across Central Bedfordshire by providing local residents, visitors and businesses clear and effective parking solutions helping to make Central Bedfordshire is a great place to live and work. 

  

As a Civil Enforcement Officer you will be responsible for helping to keep our roads and residents safe by ensuring motorists park safely and in the correct places. You will be required to engage with motorists on a daily basis, offering advice and guidance and where necessary you will the issue penalty charge notices to vehicles that are parked on parking restrictions. You will also be involved in targeted enforcement days working with other teams, for example checking Blue Badges are being used correctly, and supporting larger events held in Central Bedfordshire. You'll also work closely with our Highways teams to ensure parking restrictions are maintained and enforceable. 

 

Using your great communication skills you will be confident and enjoy dealing with members of the public, while representing the Council in a positive and proactive manner. You will need to remain calm under pressure and sometimes you will need to deal with challenge from motorists. Attention to detail is needed to capture all of the necessary information to carry out your role. You'll work in a supportive team and you will receive full training leading to a certification if successful. 

 

You will be required to apply for Standard DBS clearance as part of the Recruitment process. A full clean Driving Licence is desirable but not essential.
