Conservation Officer

Team: PND - Technical Team

Job Family: Enabling  CBG11

Salary: £38,479 - £41,632 per annum pro rata

Hours: 37 hours a week

Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and to undertake site visits and attend meetings as needed to carry out your role.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permenant

About the role 

The Council’s vision and values are integral to everything we do. As a Conservation Officer, you’ll find your greatness by acting as a champion of our area’s unique heritage buildings, parklands and landscape.

 

The Council has an ambitious agenda with significant growth planned over the next 20 years for up to 39,000 homes and 24,000 jobs. We have also recently commenced a new Local Plan for Central Bedfordshire which will likely see further growth planned in the years to come. As a Conservation Officer, you will be part of our multi-disciplinary Technical Skills Team within Strategic Growth, where you will promote our heritage and help the Council meet its vision for the area.  You will work closely with our Planning Teams, involved with development management, minerals and waste and strategic plan making.   

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated skilled Conservation Officer, with a degree (or equivalent) in Conservation and preferably membership of the Chartered Institute of Historic Building Conservation at Associate level or above. You will have a proven record of working in the planning environment, acting as case officer for Listed Building Consent applications and giving advice in a local authority context. 

 

A driving Licence is essential to the role.
