Salary: £30,060 - £32,801 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 Hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month

Contract Type: Hybrid – Permanent

About the role:

Here in Environmental Services, we’re committed to ensuring Central Bedfordshire is a great place to live, work and visit. We achieve this by managing several large-scale, high cost public-facing services that enhance our area, including waste collection, waste disposal, four Household Waste Recycling Centres, street cleansing and fly tipping, grounds maintenance and weed spraying. You’ll find your greatness as you play an integral role in delivering these services as part of a proactive team.

We are looking for an Environmental Services Officer to join our team. You will be part of a small team essential for ensuring the quality and cost effectiveness of a range of high value, high profile, contracted out services. Key areas of activity will include on site monitoring, complaints investigation, resolution and problem solving and addressing under performance as well as driving forward waste reduction and minimisation principles. You will be out and about in the community on a daily basis, travelling around a specified area of Central Bedfordshire, ensuring that the council’s statutory duties are fulfilled, addressing underperformance and working pragmatically with contractors and other parties to resolve issues. You thrive keeping customers and other stakeholders informed and engaged in the services available to them, and will have a natural desire for customer satisfactionSome weekend working, as part of a rota, may be required.

 

Educated to a good standard, and/or with good experience in a similar role, you’re an effective communicator probably already dealing with a wide range of stakeholders, and used to a professional, knowledgeable and proactive approach, with the ability to communicate at all levels. You will have excellent level of literacy and numeracy and a calm and patient approach to dealing with suppliers and contractors. Knowledge of the waste and environmental sector and contracted services coupled with good knowledge of the Central Bedfordshire area is beneficial.
