About the role:

Your role will be to support the organisation of committee meetings, appeals and other governance programmes that directly impact on the meetings through which residents engage with the Council.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is well organised, has exceptional administrative and communication skills and can work well under pressure to support the whole governance team in a range of activities and special projects including the following:-

  • Administering committee meetings and appeals and creating and publishing agendas and appeal packs.
  • Supporting elected Members and organising Member development events and briefings.
  • Webcasting meetings.
  • Maintaining data on performance and oversight of activities.
  • Advising and guiding parents and officers on governance processes.

This is an exciting time to join the team to support the education appeals process and with an extensive Member Induction Programme to plan and deliver for the elections taking place in 2027. You will play your part in supporting the team to deliver the new service plan and critically to support the delivery of effective and transparent governance that enables Members, officers and residents to engage in the decision-making process.

Previous governance experience is not essential but would be beneficial. The role provides an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to progress within a governance environment. You will need to have good IT skills to support the running of the committee meetings and to manage and maintain the appeals database.
