Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Team: SEND Advisory Team

Job Family: Enabling - CBG7

Salary: £27,711 - £30,060 per annum pro rata

Hours: 2 Positions available - 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type:  Hybrid - Fixed Term/ Secondment until December 2025

About the role

 

This is a demanding role supporting schools and council officers. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant you will:

 

  • Support the planning, preparation and delivery of specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and / or  classes, modifying and adapting activities as necessary.
  • Support the implementation of Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycles in CBC schools ensuring effective recording and reporting on development, progress and attainment.
  • Liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about pupils as appropriate.
  • Support the assessment of needs of pupils and use knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning across all four areas of need identified in the SEND Code of Practice
  • Support the development, implementation and review / evaluation of Individual Development Plans for pupils (such as Provision Plans)
  • Contribute to the development of LA SEND policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external agencies when required.
  • Support the delivery of agreed training for CBC schools.
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment that is shared with colleagues as appropriate.
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.
  • Fulfil wider professional responsibilities.
  • To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Understand the importance of sharing CBC values.
  • Recognises health and safety is a responsibility of every employee, to take reasonable care of self and others and to comply with the Schools Health and Safety policy.

To join us, you’ll need to have experience of working in a school setting. It is important that your experience includes time spent working directly with children

 

You will need to be able to build strong and productive relationships, inspire others, and have a strong specialist knowledge in respect of SEND. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation regarding young people will also be essential.
