Intensive Support Worker - Young Persons Support Team

Team: Young Persons Support Team (YPST)

Job Family: Supporting CBG9
Salary: £34,811 - £37,562 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

About the role

In Children’s Services, we aim to give every child excellent care and a promising future. As an Intensive Support Worker, you’ll be critical to the success of our adolescent support team. In this important and varied role, you will be supporting young people with often complex needs who need support as they navigate through adolescence. Day-to-day, you’ll support the young people and their parents or carers in the community, school and at home. You will be required to deliver targeted sessions face-to-face that reflect the needs of the family and the young person. You must have access to a vehicle to able travel across Central Bedfordshire daily. 

An Introduction to the Service/Team.

You will be part of our Intervention Service, and will work in partnership with our Social Work teams and represent the team at statutory meetings, and various forums. You will be part of creating and delivering plans of support through assessments of need. You will be proactive in listening to young people and their families and working towards their aspirations. You will be part of a team that is solution focussed in their approach. As an Intensive Support Worker, you will support us to learn through audits and understand our performance indicators so that we may grow through creative thinking to meet the needs of our young people. 

You will be part of making important and key decisions for the families and young people we work with. You will work with the team to provide effective, first-class care. Your role will be to ensure every young person can grow up safely and reach their full potential in Central Bedfordshire.  

 

Key skills and experience.

You must have relevant experience in delivering 1:1 direct work based interventions with adolescents and with families. 

You will need to have relevant experience in working within the Child Protection and Child in Need framework. With this background, you will need to demonstrate you are experienced in working directly with young people in need and at risk of harm. You will need to have experience in planning and delivery of direct work with young people and families. You will need to demonstrate you are a good team player and be equally capable of planning and priortising your work. You will need to demonstrate you are able to talk about complex needs and translate this into practice. With such varied responsibilities you’ll get to learn and experience new challenges that will further support your progression.
