PA to Deputy Chief Executive

Team: Monitoring & Governance Directorate 

Job Family: Supporting - CBG8
Salary: £31,022 - £33,851 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

Interview Date: 17 March 2026 - to take place face to face at Priory House, Shefford and will include some practical in-tray tests

 

About the role

If so, you may be interested as we’re looking to appoint a Personal Assistant who will provide executive support to our Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Place and Communities.

 

Central Bedfordshire is growing fast. More than 2000 new homes are being delivered each year.  We are central in the Ox Cam Corridor and the choices made now will shape the place for decades. The M1, A1, East Coast Mainline and Midland Mainline giving great connectivity north and south all of which will be bolstered by East West Rail and make the area even more important to growth opportunities. Universal Studios has just received planning permission, and we are awaiting the government’s announcement on New Towns. By supporting the Director of Place Communities, you will play an important role in helping to deliver these exciting projects, plus much more.

 

You will work within our Leadership Support Team delivering an efficient and responsive service, ensuring our senior leadership team have the day to day support they need. 

 

The role is busy, fast paced and no two days will be the same. Your day will involve diary and inbox management, fielding calls, facilitation of meetings both virtual and in person including minuting meetings, assistance with preparation of papers for key meetings and presentations and liaison with officers to provide responses to MP’s, Elected Members, Town and Parish Councils and resident enquiries.

 

You will have excellent organisation, interpersonal and communication skills and be an expert in prioritising and managing busy schedules. A good work ethic and working under pressure is a must. You must be proactive, conscientious, hard-working and be prepared to manage others and be part of a team. As well as all this, we would expect you to take great pride in a job well done and demonstrate mutual respect to others.   

 

Experience in supporting a senior leadership team in Local Government or within the Public Sector is preferable.

 

The role will require you to work from our office at Priory House regularly during the working week, subject to business needs.
