PH Officer - Housing and Stop Smoking

Salary: £30,060 - £32,801 per annum pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week (3 Positions available) 

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

About the role

 

Working on behalf of the Shared Public Health Service across Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes, the newly created role of Public Health officer – Stop Smoking and Housing will work with our health and housing team to support stop smoking delivery approaches to support residents in social housing.

 

Working alongside the Public Health Principal for health and housing, you will deliver improved health outcomes for our residents, with a focus on stop smoking services and process change opportunities with our housing partners.

Key Responsibilities of the PH Officer - Housing and Stop Smoking role will include:

  • Deliver high quality services which will simplify and enhance residents’ experience of advice, guidance, and support with a focus on stop smoking.
  • Deliver expert-led stop smoking support through in-person and phone clinics.
  • The individual will be responsible for accurately recording and tracking the outcomes of their work, ensuring all outcomes are documented.
  • Each position will be assigned to 1 local authority, flexibility to travel across the 3 local authorities will be necessary to ensure service continuity.
  • Working closely with social housing providers in setting up and running community lead events.
  • To improve outcomes / health & wellbeing of those engaging with services.
  • To address health inequalities across our 3 authorities – in relation to service access, user experience and outcomes.
  • To increase access to Choose You for social housing residence.
  • To identify and implement opportunities to increase service user engagement with, health and well-being services.
  • To collaborate with partners and stakeholders in housing contexts to make organisational or system-wide changes that will lead to improved health outcomes for residents.
  • To ensure that services develop to meet the needs of housing organisations and their customers, within the scope of Choose You.
  • The responsibilities listed above are not intended to be exhaustive. The role holder is expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

We want to hear from you if you are committed to enhancing service delivery and the well-being of staff, partners and service users and have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent knowledge, with at least 2 year’s experience in public health or a related organisation.
  • Previous experience delivering and co-ordinating service delivery and experience in Stop smoking lifestyle change support.
  • Experience of managing effective and customer focussed services to improve outcomes for residents.
  • A passion for delivering excellent services.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing budgets.
  • Understanding of health inequalities and experience working with diverse populations, including ethnic minorities and individuals from deprived areas.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, including service users to support the development of the service and drive improved outcomes for residents.
  • This role requires some travel you must be able to drive, have access to a vehicle and hold a full valid driving licence.
