About the role:
We are looking for Personal advisers with a ‘can do’ attitude who are child focussed, like to think outside of the box and are creative in their support with children and their families.
We have exciting plans to continue to shape how we work with families and their children. Having recently launched a new dedicated Corporate Parenting Service, we are looking to recruit additional Personal Advisers within our Corporate Parenting teams who will be key in supporting children, and care experienced young people to transition to adulthood.
Personal advisers will work closely with children and young people who are cared for by the Local Authority, their families and professionals working with them. The role will be varied, no two days will look the same and you will work closely alongside all our teams in the Corporate Parenting Service to ensure our children and young people are supported during their teenage and young adulthood.
As a Personal adviser, you will have support from the Children in Care and Beyond Care teams and from the Seeking Sanctuary teams consisting of Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, Personal Advisers, Reunification Social Workers/Practitioners and Restorative Practitioners. You will report to team managers but work closely with our Corporate Parenting Social Workers, Personal Advisers and managers. You will provide practical help and direct support to young people, while also helping experienced young adults from age 16 up to the age of 25 to become independent, inspiring them to set ambitions and goals for themselves.
We want to ensure our customers:
- Are assisted in making the transition between care and independence.
- Have the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to live independently.
- Have appropriate accommodation options.
- Have access to education, training and employment.
- Live a healthy lifestyle.
- Develop and maintain social networks that will sustain them throughout their lives.
We are able to provide you with:
- Access to training in Systemic Practice and Motivational Training.
- Support to complete Practice Education qualifications.
- Support to complete a post-qualifying Masters in Child and Family Social Work.
- Regular personal and group supervisions.
- Supportive Managers, Senior Leaders and Teams.
- Manageable caseloads allowing for outstanding work.
Relationship based practice sits at the core of everything we do by working with children, families and their natural networks to build on their strengths. Our workforce told Ofsted that they enjoy working for Central Bedfordshire and feel well supported by visible and caring managers and senior leaders. Ofsted also recognised the level of support available through a wide range of relevant training and development opportunities which help our practitioners undertake reflective and effective quality work with children and their families and networks.
Please be advised that having access to your own transport and willingness to travel is an essential requirement for this role.
