Team: Public Protection – Food

Job Family: Directing CBG9 - CBG12 (Career graded)

Salary: (CBG9) £34,811 - £50,436 (CBG12) per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week (Job share would be considered)

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract type: Hybrid – Permeant

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Food Services Team as a Public Protection Practitioner. The successful applicant will have qualifications that fulfil the competency framework requirements of the Food Law Code of Practice.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual ideally with at least 2 years’ experience in food standards enforcement, however, applications from recently qualified candidates will also be welcomed. They must possess excellent written communication and interpersonal skills and a professional manner essential to carrying out inspections, responding to potentially stressful incidents and complaints, providing complex business advice, carrying out enforcement activity, sampling and leading and undertaking projects. Experience of working with businesses under the Primary Authority provisions would also be helpful as the service is keen to support local businesses and already has several agreements in place.

 

As a Public Protection Practitioner, you will also support officers within the team and the ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team towards shared goals are essential. The team have been designated as hybrid workers; you will therefore be self-motivated, proactive and possess a proven ability to work autonomously. Good organisational and communication skills are also required as is a full driving licence as you will be required to make front line visits.
