Senior Civil Enforcement Officer

Team: CMS - Parking Enforcement
Job Family: Directing (M) - CBG8 
Salary: £31,022 – £33,851 per annum pro rata (Additional weekend enhancement)

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours average on a rolling 8-week rota. (Please note that you will work a shift pattern of 5 on 3 off, on a rolling 8-week rota, with weekend working (Saturdays and Sundays with enhancement) a mixture of early and late shifts between 7am and 9:30pm).

About the role:
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Civil Enforcement Officer to work within our busy Parking team; supporting the Parking Enforcement Manager, managing and co-ordinating all aspects of parking enforcement and functions, ensuring the Council fulfils its statutory duty to manage its road networks to reduce congestion and disruption. 

 

Our parking enforcement team aims to provide a high quality of civil enforcement action throughout Central Bedfordshire to aim to ensure the free movement of traffic and rotation of car parking spaces within our Car Parks and on street parking. We endeavour to maximise compliance of our parking restrictions through education and enforcement. By providing residents, visitors, and businesses clear and effective parking solutions we help make sure Central Bedfordshire is a great place to live and work.

 

You will manage and support a small team consisting of up to seven Civil Enforcement Officers, advising on all areas of enforcement following relevant legislation including the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.

 

You will be required to support the Parking Enforcement Manager on procedures and make changes where needed to maintain excellent work practices and provide customers with the best service possible. Working closely with the Parking Support Team you will advise and assist both on individual cases and on improvements that can be made to assist in the ongoing improvement of the service area. 

 

Dealing with complaints and assisting with MP and Member enquiries will also be required. 

 

Previous parking enforcement experience is essential as the successful candidate will be advising colleagues on legislation and parking enforcement issues as well as assisting the parking support team.

 

Parking is a fast-paced service so you will be expected to multi-task and can inspire others whilst remaining patient. You will need to manage your own workload with tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills are paramount and efficient use of Microsoft packages is advantageous.  

 

This is a customer focused role in a contentious area and therefore the candidate will be expected to deal with difficult situations in a professional and courteous manner. So, if you want to find your greatness this is the job for you.

 

The successful candidate will be required to use the IMPERIAL software for parking processes however full training will be given on this.  


You will be required to apply for Standard DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance as part of the Recruitment process.

 

You will need a full clean Driving Licence.
