More about the role:

Help us tell the stories and share information that matters to our residents.

This is more than a content role. It’s about shaping how people experience their council - making information clearer, campaigns more impactful and our digital channels genuinely engaging.

You’ll create, curate and elevate content that connects with people across Central Bedfordshire. Working across social, email, web and more, you’ll bring ideas to life in ways that feel relevant, timely and accessible. You’ll spot trends, use insight to guide decisions and look for smarter, more creative ways to reach residents.

No two days are the same. You might be planning a multi-channel campaign one day, building web content or testing new formats the next. Working closely with teams across the council and within communications, you’ll deliver joined-up digital activity that strengthens our voice and builds trust.

You’ll also play a key role in maintaining consistency, helping ensure everything we share feels like us: clear, confident and human.

Why join us?

We’re a council that’s constantly evolving - investing in digital (such as a new CMS), improving how we communicate and connecting better with our communities. You’ll play a key role in shaping campaigns, testing new approaches and raising the standard of our digital content.

You’ll join a collaborative, supportive team that works across the organisation and values ideas, trust and impact. There’s real opportunity to grow your skills, develop your expertise and help shape the future of our digital work.

If you’re creative, curious and driven to improve content, this is a chance to make a real difference.

  • Confident using analytics and insight tools (e.g. Google Analytics) to measure performance and inform decisions
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a complex organisation.

Competencies

  • Content & storytelling: Produces clear, engaging and accessible content for different audiences and channels
  • Social & digital expertise: Understands platform best practice, trends and optimisation techniques
  • Web & user focus: Creates user-centred web content, applying accessibility and continuous improvement principles
  • Insight-led: Uses data and audience insight to evaluate and improve content and campaigns
  • Campaign delivery: Plans and delivers end-to-end, integrated campaigns
  • Brand & consistency: Maintains a consistent tone of voice and visual identity
  • Collaboration & influence: Works effectively across teams and advises stakeholders with confidence
