About the roles:
In Central Bedfordshire we want to assist children and young people with disabilities to grow up safely, achieve more, and lead happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. The Children with Disabilities Service strives to deliver high quality, timely, and strengths-based services which are aimed at improving outcomes and meeting the needs of the children and families we support. In order to achieve this, we recognise the need to value and nurture our talented Social Workers within a positive, dynamic and ambitious work environment. We are therefore looking for the finest Social Work staff to join our statutory frontline Children with Disabilities teams. Due to internal progression across our service, we are proud to be able to offer exciting opportunities for Social Workers and Senior Practitioners to join our teams, and to develop their skills set, whilst progressing their careers and gaining a wide range of experience. The children open to our service often remain with us throughout their journeys and this therefore gives our staff the unique opportunity to experience working across the different Social Care functions (Early Help, Child in Need, Child Protection, PLO, Court Work, Children in Care and Care Leavers).
The successful applicants to these posts will have relevant safeguarding experience and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of frontline social work practice with families. We promote a strengths-based, least restrictive model of intervention, and we are therefore looking for staff who share our values and child-centred priorities. It is not necessary to have prior experience of working with children with disabilities, as full training will be provided, but an awareness of the relevant legislation would be beneficial. Alongside fulfilling our statutory responsibilities, we strive to deliver imaginative, creative and ambitious interventions that recognise each family’s strengths and ultimately improve outcomes for children with disabilities. The successful applicants will therefore also have the skills to work with our partner agencies and to produce high quality, analytical assessments with clear, evidence-based recommendations.
We are proud of the work that we do, supporting some of the most vulnerable children across the county, and enabling our staff to develop their expertise in this rewarding and dynamic area of Social Care. We encourage all interested applicants to contact us for an informal chat about these roles, and we look forward to welcoming the successful applicants to our service soon!
