Job Family: Enabling - CBG13

Salary: £49,875 - £53,861 per annum pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type:  Hybrid -  Fixed Term/ Secondment until December 2025

About the role

 

This is a demanding role supporting schools and council officers. As an SpLD SEND Advisory Teacher you will:

 

  • Design and deliver a coordinated training programme around specific learning difficulties to SENCos, teachers and support staff, and where appropriate to CBC services.
  • Contribute towards the continued evolution of the Graduated Approach and the resources available to schools and professionals on the Local Offer.
  • To support the implementation of Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycles in CBC schools, ensuring effective recording and reporting on development, progress and attainment for children with SpLD.
  • To provide support to schools on how to accommodate inclusive classrooms through ordinarily available provision, and signpost schools to resources that will enable them to be better equipped in meeting the needs of all learners
  • Liaise with external agencies and the EHC Team on a regular basis.
  • Support the identification of training needs in schools with the SEND Advisory Team.
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment that is shared with colleagues as appropriate.
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.
  • Fulfil wider professional responsibilities.
  • Promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity.
  • Always maintain confidentiality.
  • Understand the importance of sharing CBC values.
  • Recognise health and safety is a responsibility of every employee, to take reasonable care of self and others and to comply with the Schools Health and Safety policy.

To join us, you’ll need to have QTS and relevant qualifications around dyslexia (e.g. Level 7 CCET, Level 5 Certificate in Dyslexia), and experience of working in a school setting. It is important that your experience includes time spent working directly with children

 

You will need to be able to build strong and productive relationships, inspire others, and have a strong specialist knowledge in respect of SEND. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation regarding young people will also be essential.
