About the role:
Here in the Access and Inclusion Service, we want every child in Central Bedfordshire to enjoy their childhood and have the best start in life. We’re focused on ensuring that children within Central Bedfordshire receive a full and efficient education to help them achieve their potential. You’ll find your greatness as a Traveller Education Liaison Officer as you play a key role in a team valued by both schools, parents and other services across the Local Authority.
Organised, reliable and committed, as a Traveller Education Liaison Officer you will work with schools, families and other professionals on a day-to-day basis to ensure that our Gypsy, Roma and Traveller children are receiving their education entitlement. It’s a chance to use your creativity to find solutions to barriers that mean a child may not have access to a suitable education. You’ll also have the chance to work as part of the wider team within Childrens Services.
A flexible and supportive team player, you’ll value a young person’s right to education. It’s likely you’ll bring experience in education and/or working alongside the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Community although this isn't essential, working on a varied caseload with challenging families and a wide range of professionals. You will be working in an area guided by a legal framework. Comfortable in a busy and fast-paced environment, you will have the confidence and communication skills to provide appropriate challenge to families and other professionals where required.
You'll ideally have previous experience working with/alongside schools and working with young people and families.
Join our team, and you’ll enjoy a thorough induction process and the chance to access local and national training that supports your professional development. You’ll find your own greatness as you help children and young people to progress.
