These include rhymetimes, coffee mornings, craft activities and much more. Most of all we are a welcoming, and safe place for the whole community.

 

As one of our Library Managers, you’ll find your greatness as you manage the day-to-day operation of Barton Library. In this key role you will:

  • Manage the library on a daily basis
  • Line manage staff
  • Develop and motivate Customer Service Assistants
  • Ensure that Library Service priorities, standards and local performance targets are being achieved

 

You will be part of a team that provides excellent customer service to library users including serving customers, answering enquiries and taking part in promotional events and activities. Your efforts will help us to deliver a vibrant, high quality, relevant and sustainable service by contributing to service strategy priorities and supporting the continuing modernization and transformation of the service.

 

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage a team of Customer Services Assistants and volunteers.
  • Manage the library building including: safety, security, and maintenance.
  • Provide excellent customer service; encourage the use of facilities and services.
  • Manage and participate in activities, events, and promotions including children's rhyme times
  • Maintain and promote library stock.
  • Provide assistance to the public in the use of IT and other equipment.
  • Support community groups, hirers, and other users of the building.
  • Manage financial routines including banking and petty cash.
  • Support income generation.
  • Work flexibly across libraries in the area.
  • Act as a key holder and be responsible for buildings as required.
  • Duties of a similar level/responsibility as required.

 

Although you will be based at one library, you must be able to work flexibly at other libraries if required. The post works on a two-week timetable, including alternate Saturday’s.

 

Week 1

Monday: OFF, Tuesday: 8.30 - 1pm, Wednesday: 11.00 - 6pm*, Thursday: 8.30 - 1pm, Friday: 8.30 - 6pm*, Saturday: 8.30 - 4pm* (*1hr lunch break)

 

Week 2

Monday: OFF, Tuesday: 8.30 - 1pm, Wednesday: 11.00 - 6pm*, Thursday: 8.30 - 1pm, Friday: 8.30 - 6pm*, Saturday: OFF (*1hr lunch break)
