In Children’s Services we want every child to have the chance to reach their full potential. By promoting independence, we help support them to make their own choices and become part of the community. Our Short Break and Residential Services play a big part in this; offering accommodation, overnight short breaks and social opportunities to children with disabilities. As a Registered Manager, you’ll work alongside the Deputy managers to lead a team which supports these children/young people to expand their knowledge and skills. By helping every child find their greatness, you can find yours too.

 

Our team at Maythorn are passionate about providing children within our care a 'home from home' environment which is safe, stimulating and welcoming.  We are situated in Biggleswade, a rural town in Central Bedfordshire with good transport links providing easy acccess to the A1, M1 and train links.  Only 30 minutes travelling time from Stevenage, Cambridge and Milton Keynes, we are ideally situated if you are looking to commute.

 

As a Registered Manager, you will ensure that the service meets the physical, emotional and identified personal care needs of children and young people through the provision of a supportive and caring environment. You will also lead the team to work with young people and others in order to assess needs, working jointly in the preparation, implementation and delivery of Care Plans, thus maintaining the development of positive child care practice in keeping with the aims and objectives of the service.

 

We are looking for a caring, energetic and motivated person to join our passionate and professional team. The successful applicant will have previous experience of working in an Ofsted registered children’s home as either a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or Residential Support Worker, or equivalent professional experience.  You will have a strong understanding of what is required to provide a high level of care and support to Children and Young people with Disabilities, having worked in a relevant setting.  With experience in these roles, you’ll be a positive, practical person. You will be adaptable, flexible and people-focused, with the ability to build professional relationships. You will need to be able to use your initiative and think on your feet, whilst maintaining a clear focus on the services vision and goals. Your primary role will be to manage the daily running of the service, providing a positive environment in order to enable our young people to work towards their potential, whilst ensuring it is compliant in meeting all relevant legislative and standards requirements.

  • Ensure the safe running of the home at all times.
  • Participation in the on-call rota.
  • An outcome focused, non-judgmental, positive approach to working with our young people.

You must hold, or be prepared to work towards, a Level 5 Diploma in residential child care leadership and be prepared to fully engage in further training and development as required by the role and the service. You must also hold a full driving licence.
