Housing Compliance and Safety Manager

Salary: £53,577 - £57,026 per annum pro rata + £5,500 MRS per annum pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month
Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

About the role:

The Housing Property team delivers circa 20,000 responsive repairs each year alongside capital works to circa 5,500 homes, including boiler servicing and maintaining fire precautions, keeping residents safe in their homes, whilst complying with legislation. 

Central Bedfordshire Council’s Housing Compliance and Safety Manager will be instrumental in delivering an exemplary property management service. You will be responsible for overseeing the full range of asset compliance services including fire safety, building safety, gas, electric and legionella testing. You will also play a key role in developing the council’s response to key legislative changes affecting building safety. Furthermore, you will be involved in developing processes and working practices based on embedding best practice compliance and risk management.

 

As the Housing Compliance and Safety Manager your responsibilities will encompass various crucial areas, including efficient audit and risk management support in areas of compliance and FRA work programmes, planned works, and major projects.  You will need to combine your technical knowledge with your people management skills to lead change in the council’s culture in building safety matters; working more with customers to improve the council’s resilience in new regulatory environment.

 

The Social Housing (Regulations) Act 2023 requires the postholder to have, or be working towards, a minimum of a level 4 qualification in Housing Management.  If the successful candidate does not have a relevant qualification, they will be required to undertake an apprenticeship once they have completed probation in order to become qualified.
