An exciting new job opportunity has become available for the right candidate to join our Independent Living Team at Central Bedfordshire Council as an Independent Living Officer Level 2.
Independent Living is an integral part of Housing Services which lies within the Adult Social Care and Housing Directorate. We are an aspirational and forward-thinking team, responsible for delivering quality housing support to the customers who live in our Independent Living Schemes, we also provide community-based housing support and emergency alarm service. We are a close-knit team who employ a one team approach.

We are recruiting to an Independent Living Officer Level 2 post within the Independent Living Team. The role is based at Priory View, but will include regular travel to other Independent Living schemes across Central Bedfordshire (please see the link to our schemes), providing opportunities to support both our customers and colleagues. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled individual. You should be able to communicate, advocate and collaborate effectively to produce results that enable our customers to live well independently. We welcome applications from candidates with a positive attitude, demonstrable skills and relevant experience.
You will work at Priory View providing high-quality, person-centred support to our customers, who include Central Bedfordshire tenants, shared owners and community clients. As part of your role, you will coordinate interventions for vulnerable tenants where there are complex safeguarding concerns, prevent homelessness, and support customers to live independently in their homes for longer. You will undertake regular building safety and wellbeing checks to a high standard within set timescales and contribute to the organisation of events and activities that build community and promote inclusion. You will install, test, and maintain Technology Enabled Care (TEC), particularly dispersed and scheme-based alarm systems. As well as holding a caseload of customers with a range of needs, some with complex lifestyles which require multi-agency support, where you will be expected to work on your own initiative to share good practice and ensure that set targets are met.
The role also includes covering out of hours standby service on a rota basis.
