Salary: £26,403-£28,142 per annum pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Oakfield Gardens Crematorium, Fordfield Road, Steppingley, Bedfordshire, MK45 1AD

Contract Type: Fixed - Permanent

We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated individual to join our small but exceptional team, recognised nationally for excellence in customer care and service delivery. As a Crematorium Support Officer & Technician, you will play a key role in supporting bereaved families, funeral professionals, and officiants, ensuring every service runs smoothly and respectfully.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Taking responsibility for all aspects of the cremation process, following strict procedural and ethical standards
  • Assisting with administration, service preparation, and guiding funerals into and out of the service hall
  • Providing a calm, professional response to enquiries from the public and funeral sector colleagues
  • Supporting the care of our extensive grounds, including light gardening on quieter days
  • Preparing and attending the burial or scattering of ashes, supporting families with sensitivity and dignity

 

About You

You will be:

  • Self‑motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently
  • Also a strong team player who thrives within a small, dedicated team
  • Someone with excellent attention to detail and a naturally empathetic, caring approach
  • Experienced in the funeral sector — not essential but beneficial
  • Committed to learning: full training will be provided, including BTEC‑accredited cremator technician training
