About the role
We are looking for an exceptional leader who is excited to lead the way with transformational change, involving tenants fully, to improve services, in ways that are innovative and inspirational.
This is a high-profile and testing leadership role. The successful candidate will be a professional who works hard as well as smart, with the vision, tenacity, and outright ambition to lead the delivery of our transformation agenda. You will join a Senior Management Team who are unyielding in pursuit of success, whilst being mutually supportive, demonstrating a unified and collegiate leadership.
Who are we?
Central Bedfordshire Council manage 5,500 homes and we are on track to manage 10,000 homes by 2050. The Council is committed to providing excellent services, investing in homes, keeping people safe, and putting customers at the heart of our service. We are under-way with our transformation journey, building upon solid foundations in performance and workforce development. Yet there are areas where we need to improve. Amongst many competing pressures, the overarching priority is to be a good landlord: where tenants are highly satisfied; choosing to be involved in ways that suit them, co-producing priorities, making the most of a sound Business Plan and sustainable investment.
Why might you be interested in the role?
- You are an uncompromising leader who is passionate about providing outstanding customer experience, enabling people to live their best lives. You are accountable to the people we serve.
- You are committed to co-production, including tenants’ voice at all levels of decision making.
- You understand that our people are our greatest asset. You have exceptional communication skills and know how to develop colleagues’ potential and inspire them to achieve success.
- You are comfortable in a political environment, have exceptional relationship management skills and, when leading transformational change, you win support from tenants and stakeholders
- You are collegiate and collaborative in your approach: you enjoy working closely with peers to promote a ‘one team’ culture where objectives are unified and fully bought into.
You will lead an experienced and flourishing team through a period of transformation where our first challenge is to successfully deliver an improvement plan centred upon renewal of systems, policies and processes, as a basis to improve the quality of tenant’s experience and increase satisfaction. You are a leader focused upon tenant outcomes and the Consumer Standards, being accountable for:
- Tenancy as well as neighbourhood management operations. Income management, financial inclusion and tenancy sustainment. Independent Living Services
We want to hear from you if you’re up for an exciting challenge. Our expectations are:
- We expect that you have substantial experience in management, within the Housing sector.
- You must have demonstrated an ability to manage budgets and be able to manage change in a complex and challenging environment.
- You must have extensive knowledge of Housing legislation, and practice.
- This role is identified under the Social Housing Regulations Act (2023). You will be required to hold a professional qualification equivalent to Level 5 Certificate or Diploma in Housing, or foundation degree from the CIH.
This role is offered as a hybrid contract. However, the post holder is expected to attend meetings in the area and at CBC sites and in accordance with the needs of the service.
