About the role:
We are looking for a SEND Specialist Practitioner to join our hardworking and dedicated team. The Early Years Send Team is part of the 0-19 Support and Intervention Service, the team is made up of SEND Advisors and Specialist Practitioners. As a team, we work closely with health and social care professionals and form part of a wider integrated Early Years offer.
We are seeking enthusiastic, passionate professionals with experience and knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice. The role requires travel across the county and a flexible 'can do' attitude. This is a supportive role that involves working with our early years professionals, individual children and their families and wider agencies.
The postholder will enable children with additional needs to be included and have equal access to the Early Years Foundation Stage by providing constructive and high quality support to children with SEND and their family in Central Bedfordshire. You will support the identification and assessment of children and advise on the provision for children as defined by the DFE Code of Practice for SEND.
In this role, you'll work closely with the advisors to assess individual children's progress to plan next steps. You will work with parents, early years setting SENCos and staff advising on and demonstrating strategies to support children to make progress. Through your work, you will liaise with a wide range of different teams and other professionals such as speech and language therapists and health visitors, wider service SEND champions and social care teams.
The position involves working with staff in early years settings and in schools to ensure that individual appropriate provision is in place for children with SEND, and working with partnership agencies and teams to provide a consistent approach to individual children’s special educational needs.
You will assist in securing a consistent, coherent and rational approach to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Equal Opportunities in all settings and contribute to the sharing of effective practice. As well as this, you'll contribute to co-produced, longer term plans of support to ensure children with SEND achieve the best possible outcomes in early education, while accurately recording support delivered and evaluating it's impact.
