Technical Administrator - Building Control

Salary: £28,598- £31,022 per annum pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

About the role

 

The Building Control Team provide a high quality, efficient service to ensure that buildings are constructed safely in accordance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation, helping to make Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work. Our successful award-winning service is in direct competition with the private sector, We’re also responsible for street naming and numbering; this is carried out in consultation with Developers, Town or Parish Councils, Royal Mail and other organisations. The administration of the Building Safety Levy will also fall within our remit shortly.

 

The Technical Administrator plays a vital part in the team, has responsibility for processing street naming and numbering applications from start to finish, arranging repair and replacement of street signs, responding to land charge searches, registering and processing building control applications, raising invoices, assisting in the administration of the Building Safety Levy, taking telephone payments and assisting customers with their enquiries once trained.

 

The key skills and experience the candidate will need

 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliable person to provide exceptional administrative support to the building control team, in addition to a high level of customer service and flexibility in their response to a wide range of duties and interactions with a variety of people daily.

This job is challenging and rewarding, the candidate will need to have excellent IT and communication skills, some financial experience and be able to prioritise their own work on a day-to-day basis. Building Control specific experience would be advantageous as would holding an LABC Level 3 Certificate in Technical Support, if this qualification is not held the post holder would be supported to gain the certificate following a successful probation period.

As part of this role, you will need to have a valid driving licence and access to your own transport.
