Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Officer to join our Highways Finance team. This varied and rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical administration with excellent customer service and wants to play an important part in supporting the delivery of highways services across Central Bedfordshire.
As our Technical Officer, you will be responsible for the day to day administration of Highways Agreements, including Section 278 and Section 38 agreements, as well as managing the Vehicle Crossover (VXO) and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging schemes. You will work closely with colleagues, developers, contractors and residents to ensure applications are processed efficiently, financial records are maintained accurately, and services are delivered to a high standard.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Administering the Highways Agreement service, including the technical processes associated with Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
- Managing the technical administration of the Vehicle Crossover (VXO) and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging schemes.
- Monitoring income, raise invoices and purchase orders, and proactively manage outstanding debts.
- Managing the Highways Imprest Account, ensuring sufficient funds are maintained and readily available to support operational requirements.
- Providing flexible support to the Highways team.
You will have GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade 4 (Grade C) or above, together with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, and will have a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of Section 278 and Section 38 agreements would be an advantage, but it is not essential. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, enjoys working collaboratively and takes pride in delivering a high quality service.
