Salary: £26,403 - £28,142 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 per week. Part time hours will be considered, minimum of 25 per week, with hours to be worked across Monday to Friday
Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than twice per month.
Contract Type: Hybrid - Fixed Term Maternity Cover until mid February 2027

More about the role
Our Recruitment Team plays a vital role in supporting services across the Council by ensuring we attract and appoint the right people. We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive colleague to join us on a temporary basis. If you enjoy problem solving, working collaboratively and being part of a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Working closely with our team of Recruitment Officers and the wider HR team, you’ll support the end-to-end recruitment process and help ensure a smooth, positive experience for candidates and our hiring managers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Shortlisting candidates within our ATS (Success Factors)
- Liaising regularly with CBC managers regarding recruitment activity and successful candidates
- Managing shared inbox's and responding to queries from candidates and managers
- Checking compliance documentation and employment contracts
- Processing new starters and internal transfers in Success Factors
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date candidate records within the system
- Authorising orders for temporary staff
- Assisting the wider HR team if required
About you
This is a varied role where priorities can change quickly, so you’ll need to be organised, adaptable and comfortable managing multiple tasks. You will:
- Take a proactive, solution-focused approach to problem solving
- Be confident using IT systems and learning new platforms
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have proven experience of working in a busy, fast-paced administration environment, ideally in HR
- Enjoy being part of a team while also working independently
We’ll provide full training on our systems, policies, employment law and recruitment best practice. In return, we’re looking for someone who is keen to learn, supports colleagues and takes ownership of their work.
Further information
The team is primarily based at Priory House, Shefford. This is a hybrid role, with regular office attendance expected. Initial training will take place on-site for a minimum of two weeks.
Please note this position is maternity cover and offered on a fixed-term / secondment basis. The assignment will end when the substantive postholder returns, with appropriate notice provided.
