More about the role
Our Recruitment Team plays a key role in helping the Council deliver services that make a real difference to our residents and communities. We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive person to join our team. If you enjoy problem solving and working collaboratively, we'd love to hear from you.
In this role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to our hiring managers guiding and supporting them through the full recruitment process in line with the Council's policies and procedures, employment legislation, HR and recruitment best practice. You’ll be their go-to person — offering advice, answering questions and helping things run smoothly from start to finish. This will include helping to create effective job adverts and recruitment campaigns, supporting them to use our recruitment systems, ensuring their vacancies are advertised through the appropriate channels, working with our managed service provider to source short-term agency workers, issuing offers and contracts to successful candidates and ensuring compliance is in place for all new starters, and contractors. You will also ensure our candidates have a smooth and engaging experience, responding to their queries at all stages of the recruitment process and champion fair, inclusive and compliant recruiting.
Who we are looking for
- the role is one where no two days are the same, the ideal candidate will need to be organised and have a flexible and agile approach to the day-to-day work managing multiple priorities
- While not essential, experience of working within an HR or Recruitment team, together with knowledge of recruiting principles, SAP SuccessFactors or a similar Applicant Tracking System (ATS) along with some knowledge of IR35 would be highly desirable
- good IT skills and a confident and enthusiastic approach to training and using new systems and processes
- confident communicator both written and verbal
- a team player, someone who enjoys working within a team environment, but is equally able to work independently
- a track record of working collaboratively with senior colleagues, offering constructive advice and practical solutions to support effective outcomes
- a candidate who demonstrates our values in their approach to work and is dedicated to delivering positive impact for the communities we serve
We’ll provide full training on our systems, policies, employment law and recruitment best practice. In return, we’re looking for someone who is keen to learn, enjoys supporting others and takes a proactive, solution-focused approach to their work.
