Salary: £28,598 - £31,022 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 per week. Part time hours will be considered, with hours to be worked accross Monday to Friday
Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than twice per month.
Contract Type: Hybrid - Fixed Term Maternity Cover until mid February 2027

More about the role
Our Recruitment Team plays a key role in helping the Council deliver services to our residents by making sure the right people join the organisation. We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive person to join our team. If you enjoy problem solving and working collaboratvely, we'd love to hear from you.
In this role, you’ll work closely with Hiring Managers guiding and supporting them through the full recruitment process in line with the Council's policies and procedures, employment legislation and HR best practice. You’ll be their go-to person — offering advice, answering questions and helping things run smoothly from start to finish. This will include helping managers create effective job adverts, supporting them to use our recruitment systems, advising them on the different options available to them for recruitment campaigns, ensuring their vacancies are advertised through the appropriate channels, working with our managed service provider to source short-term agency workers, issuing offers and contracts to successful candidates and ensuring compliance is in place for all new starters. You will also ensure our candidates have a smooth and engaging experience, responding to their queries at all stages of the recruitment process.
Who we are looking for
- the role is one where no two days are the same, the ideal candidate will need to be organised and have a flexible and agile approach to the day to day work managing multiple priorities
- while not a necessity, experience of working within a HR / Recruitment Team and use of SAP Success Factors or any other ATS
- good IT skills and a confident and enthusiastic approach to training and using new systems
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- demonstratable experience of providing great customer service in a busy and fast paced environment
- a team player, someone who enjoys working within a team environment, but is equally able to work independently
We’ll provide full training on our systems, policies, employment law and recruitment best practice. In return, we’re looking for someone who is keen to learn, enjoys supporting others and takes a proactive, solution-focused approach to their work.
Further information
The Recruitment Team work regularly from Priory House, Shefford. This role is being offered as Hybrid working, with expected regular attendance in the office. The initial training for this role will take place within Priory House for a miniumum of 2 weeks.
This role is covered by the Code of Practice on the English Language Requirements for Public Sector Workers.
Please note that this role is a maternity leave cover position and is offered on a fixed-term basis. The contract will conclude when the substantive post holder returns to work, appropriate notice will be provided.
