About the role
Within our Children and Families Directorate, we are committed to ensuring every child receives high-quality care and the opportunity to achieve a positive future. By supporting families and safeguarding children, we contribute to making CBC a thriving and supportive place to live.
As a Family Worker, you will play a key role in the success of the 0–12 Family Service and the delivery of the Best Start in Life Family Hubs programme. You will provide universal support, facilitate group-based interventions, and deliver early help services that empower families and improve outcomes for children.
This varied and rewarding role involves working as part of a dedicated team to deliver a welcoming, inclusive, and responsive service that meets the needs of local communities. You will be a confident and proactive practitioner with experience of working with children and families, either individually or in group settings. A strong understanding of safeguarding policies and practices is essential, alongside excellent organisational skills to effectively plan, deliver, and evaluate activities and interventions.
On a day-to-day basis, you will work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to provide a range of drop-in sessions, groups, crèches, and programmes designed to support children's emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. You will remain vigilant to potential risks and take appropriate action to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing. You will also support families to identify their strengths and needs, helping them access appropriate services and resources, and enabling them to achieve their goals through tailored guidance and support.
The role requires working across the local authority area, supporting our six Children's Centres as they transition into Best Start Family Hubs. Services will be delivered both within Children's Centres and through outreach provision in community venues. You will have access to the Children's Centre van to transport equipment and resources and will be involved in the planning, preparation, and delivery of activities across locations. Therefore you will need a full driving licence that covers use of manual vehicles.
Flexibility is essential, as your working week may vary and will involve working across different centres and community settings to meet service needs.
