About the role

We aim to give every child excellent care and a promising future. By supporting families and keeping children safe we are helping to make CBC a great place to live. As a Family Worker, you will be critical to the success of the 0 - 12's Family Service. You will provide universal support, groupwork and early intervention approaches to empower families and improve outcomes.

In this important and varied role, you will be part of a team offering a welcoming and accessible service that meets and adapts to local needs. Day to day you will be working independently, with team members and with partner agencies, within the children centre and in outreach venues to offer a range of drop ins, groups and programmes to support children's emotional, social, cognitive and physical needs; keeping an eye on risk to ensure they are safe. You will support families to help themselves by working with them to identify their needs, suggesting support and services, and enable them to achieve their goals.

You will be confident and resourceful and keen to learn and develop new knowledge and skills. As this is an entry level role, we invite candidates who are unqualified to apply. With lived experience and a passion for making a difference to children and families, we will support you to achieve a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area. Experience in volunteering or working with children and families would be an advantage.

You will be working as part of an established Children's Centre team working across the Sandy and Biggleswade area and will need a positive and flexible attitude towards change as the team and service develops.  A clean driving licence and use of a car is essential.

Join us, and you'll enjoy attractive benefits plus excellent in-house training. This includes specialist courses covering specific areas of interest. Even better, you'll find your greatness by ensuring that every child is happy, safe and well.

At Central Bedfordshire we are passionate about having a workforce that reflects our community. This is why we are committed to creating equal opportunities, to embrace diversity.
