Salary: £51,471 - £55,585 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time Only
Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.
Contract Type: Hybrid - Fixed Term until 31st July 2026

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Virtual School Team at Central Bedfordshire Council and make a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable children. This a fantastic opportunity to join a small but effective team who work tirelessly to promote the educational achievement of vulnerable children.
As an advisory teacher, you will support and challenge Senior Leadership Teams, Designated Teachers, and other professionals to secure the best possible educational outcomes for children who are in care, previously in care, in kinship care or have a social worker. This will involve working closely with social workers, their managers and other services to raise the importance of education for vulnerable children and ensuring all professionals work together to achieve the best outcomes.
We are looking for a dynamic leader who is dedicated to supporting and challenging education settings to allow children and young people to achieve their educational potential. Fully conversant with the educational landscape, you will have a flair for leading and motivating people and the communication skills to build relationships across organisations. You’ll have developed your expertise through considerable experience in a school or education setting, and will have a passion for improving life chances for vulnerable children and young people. You will have a moderate to high digital literacy within skills and competencies.
As an advisory teacher, you will be qualified to degree level with qualified teacher status. You will have the ability to work flexibly and independently with a solution-focused approach and will also have a good understanding of attachment and trauma.
