Application Support Officer

Team:  IT and Customer Services 

Job Family: Advising – CBG11

Salary: £41,042 - £44,296 per annum pro rata

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week 

Base Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month. Main base location for this role is Priory House, Shefford.

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

Our IT is evolving towards a product led approach, where teams bring together expertise across applications with similar capabilities to better meet business needs and this has led to this excellent opportunity.

 

We are looking for a proactive and service-oriented Application Support Officer to manage and support a portfolio of HR, Finance, and payment-related applications outside of SAP. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Working closely with IT and service areas you will act as the primary point of contact for application-related issues and requests ensuring timely and effective resolution.  

 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Understanding service requirements and aligning system development with business priorities 

  • Managing relationships with third-party suppliers and vendors, ensuring effective support and delivery 

  • Prioritising and managing workload, including incidents, service requests, and enhancements 

  • Leading application upgrades and improvements 

  • Contributing to application lifecycle management and roadmap planning, identifying opportunities for optimisation and cost savings 

  • Maintaining clear documentation, processes, and knowledge articles 

  • Ensuring adherence to ITIL-aligned processes, including incident, problem, and change management 

 

Skills & Experience: 

You will have a Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent proven experience of working in an application support role. Strong communication skills are essential with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

ITIL 4 Foundation certification is also desirable with practical application in incident and request handling plus change management.  A knowledge of HR, Payment, Finance and Public Health applications and processes would also be useful.
