Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

About the role
Are you passionate about procurement and keen to secure the best deals for a forwarding thinking, high achieving unitary authority ? As a Head of Procurement in you'll play a crucial role in helping us achieve our ambitions.
Central Bedfordshire Council is a unitary authority formed in 2009, we have a track record of prudent financial management with the 2024/25 accounts now available for inspection and a recent Ofsted rating of Good for our Children & Family services. The Council plans to spend £431M pa on supplies & services, as well as a further £115m on the capital programme in 2025/26.
The role holds responsibility for embedding a culture of professional procurement processes and practice, transforming how the Council procures in all areas, whilst ensuring the Council achieves value for money by leveraging its Purchasing power.
This role will have accountability for all aspects of the procurement process, including the formation and approval of procurement strategy, embedding regulatory change across the council and production of procurement reporting including the Pipeline & contracts register.
This is a key role, and we are looking for a candidate with the experience to develop and deliver a robust & forward thinking Procurement service.

Who we are looking for
- CIPS Qualified
- Ability to act as the Council’s subject matter expert on procurement and contract management.
- Senior level leadership experience & in-depth knowledge of Procurement Legislation, policy & processes.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills and the ability to build a strong high- performing team, whilst also developing successful relationships with politicians, senior management and stakeholders across the Council.
- Be a role model for the Council’s values and behaviours, inspiring colleagues with a can- do attitude.
