Salary: £71,113 - £76,315 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.
Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

About the role:
We are looking to recruit an innovative, passionate and exceptionally effective Head of Commissioning to help play a central role in driving forward children's commissioning that reflects and supports positive outcomes for our children!

Bringing expertise in the field of Local Authority and Public Health procurement, you will be responsible for ensuring that Central Bedfordshire’s Children’s Services commission targeted and high quality services that are value for money. You will be responsible for:
- Leading the strategic commissioning processes from conceptualisation, to development of service models, to market testing and on to the effective commissioning and subsequent contract management of service arrangements.
- Providing strategic, operational and motivational leadership of a team of committed staff
- Coordinating joint working between agencies including schools, commissioners, providers, children and young people using services, carers, the voluntary sector and the public to ensure that services are developed and delivered to meet local needs.
We are looking for someone with a strong track record of managing within children services settings, experience of commissioning children’s services at a senior level and an excellent understanding of the agenda for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to inform and drive forward children's commissioning.
- Lead a team when driving this ambition, including demonstrable experience of positively changing culture and behaviours.
- Excellent negotiation skills and would be able to interpret and present a range of information.
- Work alongside a range of internal and external partners including service users.
- Work with colleagues and Elected Members in the Council, and work closely with our partners and stakeholders to transform the way our services are delivered, working collaboratively to develop solutions and new ways of working.
Requirements
Previous experience in commissioning children's services at a senior level.
