Base Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.

About the role:
Central Bedfordshire Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic managers to work as part of the Choose You service, on behalf of the Shared Public Health Service across Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.
The role of Public Health Practitioner Behaviour Change will be responsible for co-ordinating service delivery and leading on range of projects that contribute to stop smoking and healthy weight programmes to improve outcomes for residents.
Working under the Public Health Principal Service Delivery you will lead a team of Officers to deliver behaviour change support that will lead to improved health outcomes for our residents.

Responsibilities will include:
- Make daily key decisions regarding prioritisation and management of resources, staff and workloads.
- Effectively monitor and manage demand and capacity across service areas.
- Develop and implement policies and programmes to improve health outcomes of those engaging with the service and reduce health inequalities.
- Co-ordinate the review and development of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure that they are implemented routinely through delivery teams.
- Schedule service delivery and manage waiting lists, identifying where there are opportunities for development and innovation and where current practice needs to be amended.
- Ensure that staff are delivering the Choose You interventions in line with principles of motivational interviewing, providing quality assurance of staff delivery.
- Provide consistent line management for Public Health Officers, including facilitate and support supervision, professional development, training and disciplinary processes.
- Develop and monitor objectives for Team members.
- Lead on the recruitment of direct reports.
- Communicate effectively with Service Delivery Principal and Quality and Strategy Principal.
- Provide leadership that delivers high quality services.
- Measure, monitor and report population health and wellbeing; health needs, risks, and inequalities; and use of the Choose You services.
- Provide accurate reporting through Principals to senior management – including from the Theseus CM system - to inform and drive all aspects of service development.
- Lead on projects and programmes that support the delivery of improved outcomes for residents.
- Be responsible for managing budgets and undertaking financial duties in line with Central Bedfordshire Council rules and procedures.
- Identify and establish relationships with wider stakeholders to support the ongoing development and delivery of services.
- Collaborate effectively, including with the other Public Health Behaviour Change Practitioners, to provide consistent practice and integrated service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience

- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing and motivating teams to achieve outcomes.
- Degree-level education and/or relevant professional qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Previous experience leading and co-ordinating all aspects of customer focussed services.
- Knowledge and experience of managing budgets
- Understanding of health inequalities and experience working with diverse populations, including ethnic minorities and individuals from deprived areas.
- Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, including service users, to support the development of the service and drive improved outcomes for residents.
