Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.
Contract Type: Hybrid - 1 Year Fixed Term

About the role:
Central Bedfordshire Council has an exciting new role for an experienced Project Manager to work with our Public Health Principal Officer on the development and implementation of initiatives funded through the SmokeFree Generation Grant, maximizing access to stop smoking support and improving health outcomes for residents across Central Bedfordshire, Bedford Borough and Milton Keynes.
No public health knowledge or experience is required.
The role will be specifically to:
- Provide efficient and accurate customer-focused support for effectively utilizing the SmokeFree Generation Grant, delivering change, including planning and scheduling of projects; data collection and analysis; the production of management reports; identifying and mitigating risk, budget monitoring and supporting stakeholders and customers.
- Be responsible for complex project delivery, using project management tools, within deadlines and on budget.
- Provide robust, detailed and succinct reporting on all programme/project related activity
- Be proficient and have experience of managing and collaborating with senior stakeholders to deliver effective outcomes.
The postholder will need to work effectively with a Public Health Principal (Choose You Quality and Strategy) and Head of Service to ensure that effective project plans and processes are in place for effectively planning and using this Grant funding, and to work with stakeholders to progress elements of the service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
The suitable candidate will have:
- Degree-level education and/or relevant professional qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Experience of managing complex programmes/projects with multiple stakeholders (ideally external stakeholders / other organisations).
- Proficiency in stakeholder engagement at a senior level, who will be able to hit the ground running and forge the credible stakeholder relationships quickly and effectively.
- Experience of managing Public Sector (Local Government) projects.
