School Improvement Lead

Team: Children’s services - School Improvement

Job Family: Enabling - CBG14

Salary: Soulbury pay scales I&A 15-20 £58,622 - £64,518 per annum pro rata

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month

Contract: Hybrid - Fixed term / Secondment until 31/08/2025

About the role:

The School Improvement Team is based within Childrens Services and provides advice and support to 132, lower, primary, middle, secondary and upper school across Central Bedfordshire.

 

School Improvement Advisors are required to work within the School Improvement team on one or more of the following areas:

 

Attendance

  • To take a lead within the LA (alongside the Head of Access and Inclusion) in respect of effective practice and process within school settings which encourage effective attendance
  • To work with the access and inclusion team to identify effective practice in settings.
  • To support schools and clusters in identifying and resolving attendance blockages.
  • To disseminate good practice
  • To lead on both income generating and none income generating work in this area

 

Governance

  • To take a lead within the LA in respect of advice and guidance for school governance
  • To work with SIAs to identify support for governance teams.
  • To lead on both income generating and none income generating work in this area

 

English as an additional language (EAL)

  • To take a lead within the LA in respect of advice and guidance for EAL
  • To work with schools to effectively identify and support teachers and pupils with EAL
  • To lead on both income generating and none income generating work in this area

 

Performance

  • To take a lead within the LA in respect of improving school performance
  • To work with schools to effectively identify and support teachers with projects which support effective improvement
  • To lead on both income generating and none income generating work in this area

 

As a School Improvement Lead (SIL) you will:

  • Work alongside CBC officers to develop effective systems and processes
  • Work with schools to secure an outstanding understanding of professional practice in the relevant area.
  • Visit schools to provide practical support in the relevant area of responsibility.
  • Provide impartial advice in respect of specific practice

 

 You will also work with other CBC officers to Establish regular meetings agendas, Evaluate need and identify areas of required training as well as encourage the sharing of good practice.

 

To join us, you will need to be able to inspire others, build strong and productive relationships and have a strong specialist knowledge of one or more of the areas identified. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation regarding young people will also be essential.
