More about the role: 

Central Bedfordshire Council are committed to supporting children with special educational needs. The council are looking to recruit a part time Education Communicator to work as part of the Hearing Inclusion Team within our specialist resource provisions based at Toddington St George Church of England School, Parkfields Middle School and Harlington Upper School. You will join an experienced team of Education Communicators co-ordinated by the Provisions’ Qualified Teachers of the Deaf (QTOD). The team is committed to greatly improving the lives of children within Central Bedfordshire.

 

The successful candidate will provide dedicated one to one communication support for pupils with severe/profound hearing impairments.  They will enable pupils to access the academic and social curriculum and empower them to realise their full potential within the classroom and the provision under the direction of the Provision’s Qualified Teacher of the Deaf.  The ability to use your own initiative, to work alone and as part of both a provision team and the wider school team is vital. The successful candidate will be supported by the Hearing Inclusion Team to develop their skills working with deaf pupils.

 

The successful candidates will have a GCSE Grade C English and Maths or equivalent and will have experience working in schools. It is desirable to have BSL Level 1 or a willingness to gain the qualification within a year.
